Travel Diary Part 3 // Busan, Korea

Good evening ♡ This time round we're heading to Busan! I have heard of this place probably a thousand times in Korean dramas but never been there so I was really excited. Going free and easy isn't always easy as you can see, as it takes time to plan the itinerary which is never exact. But good news, we went to almost all of them on the list! For those who said five days is too much in Busan, did you really...?

Day 1. After checking in to our Airbnb which was located at Haeundae-gu, we went for Gamjatang (pork stew) which apparently is a must-eat in Busan. Later we headed to Haeundae Beach and they have a coastal walk too if you keep walking towards the right side of the beach. There were many fishing activities going on with those Ahjusshis sitting on top of the rocky cliffs. If only part of the coastal walk weren’t close for construction, we would have walked a long distance. But anyhow, we managed to take a few good shots of the scenic ocean waves, sculptures and never-ending stairway.

Sorry Mom.

Afterwards, we went to The Great Haeundae Market and here comes the binge eating. One step in and we got this- teokbokki and fish cakes dipped in spicy red teokbokki sauce. 3000Won each cup. There were sesame fried chicken, corn dog and kimbap too. Haeundae Market is mostly occupied by seafood restaurants (the best ones) so visit them if you’re here!

Motels, motels everywhere.
For cousin bro's height, it was too much lol.

By the way, all the videos are working. Click on them! :)

Day 2, we went to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, located at peak of the hill. There aren’t any direct buses which can take you up there, so you have to walk quite a bit. Before reaching the temple, you can find a lot of food stalls aligned at the sides selling snacks and I would definitely recommend trying the mini egg waffles with red bean filling. The temple is divided into many sections so to get to one from another, you just have to survive climbing the steps- really steep ones. It was not exactly a serene temple but lively instead.

Situated 20 minutes away from the temple, we have the Lotte Department Store. After walking for so long under the scorching hot sun, we ordered Bingsu at one of the dessert cafes. Then we had some Budae-jiggae and Dakgalbi, definition of a good meal. The design of the outlet reminded me of Santorini so I couldn’t resist taking pictures. Did some shopping and headed to the Gwangalli Beach, where the remarkable diamond bridge is. It changes colours but the blue was still the prettiest for me. I really wanted to come here after watching Unnies Slam Dunk Season 2 cause RI-GHT? On the beach there was a mini live band where you could pick a song and tadaa- they sing it. Most of them are like OSTs so if you’re a fan of Korean dramas, you’ll understand how much I wanted to stay there and sing along.

They were singing All For You from Reply 1997 ♡

Day 3. The next morning we had so much for breakfast! From convenient stores to this fancy delivery restaurant called Dadamun. Let dem pictures tell the stories. We settled for Kimchi fried rice, Donkatsu, spicy seafood ramyeon, Jjamppong, more teokbokki and boyyy, they tasted as good as they look. Morever, their menu’s price range was by far the most affordable being 6000-7000Won every dish.

Next stop, we have Songdo Beach and its modern coastal skywalk which connects us to the sea. I loved the relaxed atmosphere here. The wooden skywalk is surfaced with patches of transparent glasses and metal planks. I couldn’t believe the tower viewer was working- because it never does. We were kind of like fascinated so we played around it for quite some time. So so glad it was windy! Afterwards, we headed to Jagalchi Fish Market and Nampo-dong Street to have our dinner (mostly street food) while mom and I shopped at the shopping district.

What was I doing? I don't know.
Touch dem nip-

The 4th day started with Samgyetang and till today I am still in love. Look at that pure, healthy-looking Ginseng chicken soup. We have been craving for this ever since our last Korea trip. It costed 17,000Won per dish if I am not mistaken. After our brunch we went to Gamcheon Cultural Village, a pastel-themed village which gradually became a tourist spot due to its resemblance to Santorini. There will be many small twisted alleys and steep staircases which cut through the layered houses. This village is painted with various vibrant and artsy masterpieces which can be found in every corner. We even went for the mission to collect stamps in every stop but failed to complete it as the map given was too tricky. There were so many hidden pathways so we didn’t know where we were going HAHAHA. Tip: WEAR A PAIR OF SPORT SHOES if you want to survive. This ice cream shop which was located near the entrance sells many-flavoured ice cream/ ice cream sandwiches and we grabbed the blueberries, chocolate and strawberry ones. They were gooood.

Gamcheon Cultural Village alone took us the whole day and by the time we headed back it was already time for dinner. As our second Airbnb is located in Soemyeon which is close to the city, you can find a lot of tents called the Pojangmacha (usually occupied during night time) which serve Soju, seafood, meat and spam + eggs. Every tent is only operated by one Ahjumma which prepares your ordered food one by one. That meal itself is a luxury; costed approximately RM 650, yes I’m serious. These Ahjummas definitely earn more than us a day. However, it cannot be denied that the food was 10/10 with a touch of alcohol.

Little Prince and the Fox.

On the 5th day, we headed to Ttaejongdae Resort Park, located up above the cliffs again *nervous laugh*. I kind of regretted not bringing my camera, but it could be a hassle! Due to the drizzle, the train that was supposed to bring us up was not operating so we had to climb 38 floors! At least that’s what my iPhone says. Can you imagine the sense of accomplishment when we reached the top? There, you can find Yeongdo lighthouse where you can climb up the spiraling staircase to enjoy the panoramic view of the open sea. Catching a glimpse of the sunset here would be perfect! There is also a giant red and blue ring with a pointy needle which has something to do with its history. Halfway up, there was this pretty Hydrangeas Festival going on but we couldn’t stop for long so I only took a short video, illustration can be found here! The link has everything. Credit to its owner.

Twitter DP of the year.
Couldn't proceed downstairs due to the rain :( Bummer.
This fast paced video is a total failure hahaha but at least, you see it.

Add some filters and we're good to go 😂

When we came down, we were pretty exhausted and settled for Samgyeopsal and Bulgogi at a nearby restaurant in Seomyeon. Why didn't it stop raining?! At times like this the beer does a great job, doesn’t it? And oh, I forgot to mention that I finally found a place which served Bibimbap which I had been looking for ages. We had it for breakfast that morning + some savoury Mandu and Jjamppong. The scrumptious bowl of Bibimbap costed only 5000Won!

Last but not least, I hope this post makes you hungry 😈 Cheers.
